So
What…
…does that mean for my family?
Where in the Word? Acts
1:12-26 Mathias Chosen to
Replace Judas
Spotlight Verse: Acts
1:21, 22b
“’Therefore, it is necessary to choose one of the men who
have been with us the whole time the Lord Jesus went in and out among us…. For one of these must become a witness with
us of his resurrection.’”
…do we need?
J A child or adult who is willing
to go out of the room for a moment
J A good hugger, kisser, or tickler
…can we pray
for?
Judges don’t call people to be witnesses if
they know nothing about the topic. Let’s
pray that the Holy spirit will help us to be God-Watchers.
Pray
that the Holy spirit will allow us to sit back and see what God is doing in our
lives whether it is
through blessings, lessons, joys, troubles--whatever!
Even the littlest of us can begin to
have a story to tell about God.
Sometimes, I think they see him more clearly that we “mature” ones do!!
Let’s pray for ourselves
and for our little ones that as we grow, we will keep adding to
God’s story in our lives. After all, it
really is His story!!
…can we talk about?
The disciples knew they needed to
find someone to take Judas’ place. They needed
someone who would be a good witness for Jesus’ ministry and resurrection. Let’s see what it takes to be a good witness.
Send someone from your family out of
the room where they cannot see or hear what is going on. Then have one of the remaining family members
give another in the room a big hug or kiss or a tickle. Call in the one who is
outside and ask them to “be a witness” for who did the hugging. Obviously, they won’t be able to because they
didn’t see it--but that’s ok--that’s the point. You can even go so far as to
tell them who did the hugging, but they still can’t tell you if
it actually was a hug, a kiss, or a tickle. Again, because they didn’t see it happen.
The best witnesses for Jesus are the
ones who can talk from
experience about what He has done in their lives. How can each one in your family be a witness
for Jesus? How have each of you
experienced Him?
