Dear Sylva Saints and Sinners,
By this time, most of our children already know how they will be dressed next Saturday. Their Halloween costumes of Marvel heroes, animated Princesses, and imaginary identities are taking form. Costuming is joyful, but it is always a joy to see our grandchildren choose to dress as Spiderman, instead of the long-clawed Freddy Krueger. It is fun to ask our children about what costumes they have settled on.
Curtis spoke Sunday about wearing the attire that pleases God. Each day is an opportunity to see our potential identity in God's realm. Who are you today? Which of your talents is needed this week? What gift of the Spirit is needed by your neighbor this time? What practice makes you feel most whole?
Instead of focusing on our differences, if we too could be curious about each other's attire, life would gain interest. Instead of asserting our opinion, how much more fun to offer our gifts to each other in a fellowship of wonder.
We don't have to dress like a Marvel character to marvel at the thoughts and actions we have to offer each other.
Choosing my attire of the Spirit,
Tempé
