Looking through some old files, I found the “Ten Characteristics of a Spirited Church.” I thought it was worth sharing.
First, a spirited church loves God and loves to worship God with constancy, commitment, and contagious passion.
Love each other, care for one another, and have a barrel of fun together.
Be naturally generous and know that God will provide enough to do what God asks us to do.
Recognize, honor, and use the special gifts of every one of it’s people.
Really believe it can do anything God is calling it to do.
Make a tangible difference in the local to global world.
Be a community that treats every stranger and visitor as if he or she is the Christ, thus incorporating that person into the community.
Know that even if there are only a few people, there are enough people to be a thriving community of faith.
Care little about survival and greatly about faithfulness.
Have no fear, make no excuses, and exhibit bushels of faith, hope, and love.
Be well, do good, carry on, Godspeed, gracias, and shalom!
