Practice Forgiveness

One day Jesus told his followers that they were to practice forgiveness and not hold grudges. Quite a tall order and especially hard to practice.

Immediately, his followers responded, saying, “Increase our faith!” In other words, “more faith is better.”

Curiously, Jesus responded saying that they do not need more faith. He said, “You already have enough faith.” Jesus said that faith as small as even a tiny seed is enough to make a difference. That is, instead of complaining about not having enough, practice using the spiritual understandings you already have.

If you are prone to lie and you say you can’t stop; listen, you can stop because you do have enough faith.

If you feel that your life is out of control and you can’t get control; listen, you can get control because you do have enough spiritual strength to take actions to get control.

If you are filled with rage that is eating you up; listen, you can get beyond that rage because you do have enough spiritual strength to deal with the rage and do good to yourself and others.

God has not abandoned us. God has given us enough spiritual wisdom to know what is good and right to do. God is with us to guide us and help us through dark times to the light of genuine life.

Do not think that you are alone. Do not think that you do not have enough faith. Remember, even faith as small as a tiny seed can make a huge difference. What is essential is to practice the faith you have. Trust God and trust your faith to lead you to do the things that bring abundant life.
